Risk management
Oslo Clearing is dedicated to provide a robust and prudent risk management in order to fulfill its obligations towards its clearing members, and other stakeholders at all times. The Risk Management Department is responsible for monitoring the risk exposures of Oslo Clearing within acceptable levels defined by the Board of Governors.
Risk Management shall ensure that the risk exposures are collateralized, and consequently is responsible for the daily margin requirements. Risk Management monitors the cleared market places and the risk exposures during the clearing day, and decides on risk mitigating measures, f.ex. the issue of intra-day margin requirements. Further, the calculation of the Clearing Fund contribution and the issue of the Margin and Clearing fund requirement, are also performed by Risk Management.
Risk Management is responsible for maintaining and developing the risk methodologies and setting the risk parameters. Risk Management performs a continuous validation of its risk models.
The clearing model is dependent on clearing members having sufficient financial and operational capacity in order to meet their obligations. Risk Management performs regular assessments of its counterparts.
